Back to routine
Well, I guess it's time for an update on what's been happening. Put simply it's not a lot but hey, that's summer in Olympic season for you.
We're 2.5 months into training and I'm very pleased to say all is going swimmingly. I'm hitting PBs left, right and centre and in a lot of cases surprising myself. I have a rather blunt conversation about underestimating myself to thank for at least part of it. That plus a few tweaks to training and a lot of hard work finally starting to pay off. We've still got a lot of work to do but the breakthroughs I've had so far are making me even hungrier and excited to see what else I've got in me.
My life may be work-training-eat-sleep-repeat for the most part but every now and then I've found time to escape. I'm managing everything a bit better this year, although actually having some proper summer days is definitely helping. After seeing constant snow for most of winter and only shedding my hoodie about a month ago I cannot begin to describe just how wonderful it's been to have some days that truly resemble summer. The Brits may have been complaining as soon as the temps hit 24C but I've been relishing it. The only thing missing is the beach/pool....one day maybe.
That pretty much sums up life at the moment. The countdown is on to ice time in September so until then it's head down, bum up and all guns blazing.
